Local speakers join national research group in review of road & bridge conditions, congestion, safety

WHAT: 

The average driver in in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area loses more than $1,700 annually as a result of driving on roads that are deteriorated, congested, and that lack some desirable safety features, according to a new report from TRIP, a national nonprofit transportation research group based in Washington, DC. Local speakers will join TRIP on Wednesday to highlight the report’s findings and discuss possible solutions.

The report, Buffalo-Niagara Falls Transportation by the Numbers: Meeting the Region’s Need for Safe, Smooth and Efficient Mobility, examines road and bridge conditions, congestion, economic development, highway safety, and transportation funding in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls area. In addition to a statewide report, TRIP will also release regional reports with data for the Albany-Schenectady-Troy, Binghamton, Buffalo-Niagara Falls, New York-Newark-Jersey City, Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, Rochester, Syracuse and Utica urban areas.
