WHAT:
The average driver in the Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosharea loses $1,871 annually as a result of driving on roads that are deteriorated, congested, and that lack some desirable safety features, according to a new report from TRIP, a national transportation research nonprofit based in Washington, DC. In addition, a lack of adequate investment in transportation and increasing inflation in construction costs could hamper Wisconsin’s ability to make needed improvements to the state’s transportation network.
A local speaker will join TRIP at a virtual news conference on Thursday to highlight the report’s findings. The report, “Wisconsin Transportation By the Numbers: Providing a Modern, Sustainable Transportation System In the Badger State”, examines road and bridge conditions, congestion levels, traffic fatality rates, economic development and transportation funding statewide and in the Eau Claire, Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosh, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee, and Wausau areas.
