WHAT:
While state and federal transportation funding increases have allowed Wisconsin to move forward with projects needed to improve the condition, reliability and safety of the state’s transportation system, the average driver in the Madison area loses $2,101 annually as a result of driving on roads that are deteriorated, congested, and that lack some desirable safety features. This is according to a new report from TRIP, a national transportation research nonprofit based in Washington, DC.
Local speakers will join TRIP at a virtual news conference on Wednesday to highlight the report’s findings. The report, “Keeping Wisconsin Mobile: Providing a Modern, Sustainable Transportation System in the Badger State,” examines road and bridge conditions, congestion, and highway safety statewide and in the Eau Claire, Green Bay-Appleton-Oshkosh, Kenosha, Madison, Milwaukee and Wausau urban areas.
